This is good news. I wonder whether it is tied to water temperature. The trend over the past ten years has been a rise in surface temperature, with 2012 being the warmest on record and 2013 not far behind (looking at Chashes Ledge, Jordan Basin and Jonesport NOAA buoys). But this year the temperature is more like it was a decade ago. The long-term trend is probably still toward warming, with this year being the anomaly, but we will see. Let's hope we see right whales in the bay for generations to come.
Folks are talking about 50. Also lots of "stuff" showing up in the waters. Much like it was back in the 70s.
