You are invited to St Andrews NB October 4th - 9th, 2009!
The Regional Association for Research on the Gulf of Maine (RARGOM), in collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada St. Andrews Biological Station (DFO SABS), the Gulf of Maine Institute (GMRI), the Communication Partnership for Science and the Sea (COMPASS), and the Gulf of Maine Census of Marine Life (GoMA/CoML) program, have organized a
Gulf of Maine Symposium— Advancing Ecosystem Research for the Future of the Gulf
We invite research scientists, managers, policy-makers, and stakeholders to present and discuss the research needed to protect and manage the Gulf of Maine ecosystem for the future.
The Call for Abstracts is now open at http://www.rargom.org/Symposium2009/ . The deadline for submissions has been extended to May 15th.
We are also seeking submissions for technical sessions to be run concurrently on the Monday (Oct 5th). These sessions are intended to provide the opportunity for researchers to gather on topics relevant to the Gulf of Maine and allow them to connect their relevance to marine resource managers, and policy and decision-makers in the Gulf. The Organizing Committee is therefore seeking proposals from individuals interested in leading sessions that will review and summarize recent advances on topics related to the symposium theme sessions. Summary oral presentations will be given in plenary during the relevant theme sessions. Please send an email to Lara.Cooper@dfo-mpo.gc.ca with your submissions. Symposium details can be found in the attached flyer. We hope to see you in St. Andrews!
